Tanzania - Schools

Education open paths

Education plays a key role in permanently halting the downward spiral of poverty. We invest heavily in the education and vocational training of the children and young people entrusted to our care.

In four kindergartens throughout Tanzania, we provide child-friendly care for over 420 children and prepare the little ones for everyday school life through play. This builds self-confidence and makes it easier for them to start learning. Schools are not available everywhere in Tanzania. That is why, for our orphans, we opened first a primary and later a secondary school in Kemondo. All lessons are held in English. Word is spreading about our education, which is far above average. Today, 750 children attend classes in Kemondo. We also have a children's home in the latter and in Morogoro. A total of 170 kids are at home there. In Massailand, another 300 children receive primary education. Many of the parents cannot afford the school fees, which are supposed to cover the running costs of the school. By arranging sponsorships, we ensure that no one is left without education.

We also offer help after graduation. Young people are given the opportunity to be trained in skilled trades, and other areas are currently being developed. Our secondary school in Kemondo is deliberately designed as a technical school. Here, young people are introduced to manual and commercial professions. This experience makes it much easier for them to choose a career later on.
