Calorie boost for survival

SYRIA | Food
Initial position

AVC has been involved in the region since the outbreak of the civil war in Syria. Since the liberation of the Syrian border town of Kobane from IS, we have been supporting the refugees on Syrian soil with food supplies, medical aid and a large industrial bakery.

Commitment

In 2016, the large-scale bakery built by AVC is officially inaugurated. By the end of 2017, production reaches a processing of seven tons of flour from local cultivation. The 85,000 loaves of bread produced in each of 2019 and 2020 will be distributed in refugee camps in the Kobane region all the way to Raqqa. For many people, this is the only food supply. AVC employs 27 people in the bakery.

CHALLENGES
Civil war has been raging in Syria for years. In months of fighting with the IS, the Syrian border town of Kobane was largely destroyed. The massive increase in the cost of flour in 2022 caused the prices for the monthly needs of our wholesale bakery to rise considerably.
OBJECTIVES
Ensuring the survival of people in Syria and promoting future resettlement. In addition to the bakery, AVC also invests in the construction of school buildings, the resocialization of children and adults and the development of water. AVC enjoys great trust among the population and the municipal government.
