Training center for agriculture and craft
Burundi, a landlocked country in East Africa, is characterized by a complex web of social, religious and economic factors. Burundian civil society is characterized by its bloody history, persistent poverty and increasing lack of prospects. In contact with the country's inhabitants, a sense of hopelessness can be felt in many places. A significant proportion of the population lives below the poverty line. In a global comparison of "GDP per capita", Burundi is in last place. The country faces challenges such as inadequate access to healthcare, education and basic infrastructure, which contribute to the persistent poverty of many Burundians. Inflation is exacerbating existing problems. In recent years, there has been an increase in the presence of Islam in Burundi. Animism, especially in rural areas and customs of many ethnic groups, continues to be present.
Establishment of a training center as a place for a wide range of educational opportunities. The rearing of rabbits, chickens and, in the future, pigs and the cultivation of maize, rice, tea and vegetables are on the curriculum, as is the teaching of sustainable practices to prepare pupils for responsible farming. Women have the opportunity to train as qualified tailors within a period of just six months.
AVC pursues a holistic approach that integrates personal and social factors based on a Christian value system.
