Place of Peace

A few days ago, a serious incident occurred on the grounds of a partner church in Peshawar: A member of the church’s security team got into a violent altercation with local security forces and was killed. Pastor H., who leads an apostolic ministry, immediately halted the ongoing training session with church leaders to address the situation, which was still unclear at the time. In this predominantly Muslim region, it was particularly important to him that the church remain a place of peace.

The situation was handled with prudence and composure. The family of the deceased reacted with composure to the events and respected the church leadership’s decision to pursue the path of reconciliation and peace. The Muslim neighborhood and local authorities also proved cooperative—something that cannot be taken for granted in a matter that could easily have led to serious legal consequences or even attacks on the church.

That very evening, the church leadership and members of the congregation gathered for an anointing service and rededicated their premises to God. Our partner in Peshawar is convinced that the prayers for peace in the neighborhood have been effective. For this, he is deeply grateful to God and to the many people who prayed.
